About the project
School leaders play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences and outcomes of students. They are responsible for creating a positive school culture, managing resources effectively, supporting teachers, and ensuring all students have access to high-quality education. The Euridyce report (2021/2022) emphasises the importance of school leaders possessing strong management skills, pedagogical knowledge, and a clear vision for enhancing schools. The report advocates for ongoing training and assistance for school leaders, encouraging collaboration among schools, and empowering leaders to make strategic decisions that positively impact student learning outcomes.
As schools become more racially, socioeconomically, and linguistically diverse, many scholars in international literature emphasise the importance of providing professional development programs for inclusive leadership.
The Leadership Empowerment and Development for Inclusive Education in Europe (LEAD-IN) project will address the needs and challenges of school leaders in high-need schools in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, and Poland. The project consortium, consisting of four NGOs from the Teach For All network, experienced in supporting educators in disadvantaged schools, and a university, will recruit and upskill 40 school leaders through the following two main interventions:
- Establishing and delivering a continuous professional development program for school leaders in socially disadvantaged schools on various leadership subjects, based on their needs.
- Creating opportunities for capacity building through networking on national and transnational levels, exchange of expertise, and input from external experts.
Based on the designed resources, the project experience and the lessons learned, the LEAD-IN team will create Guidelines for effective continuous professional development (CPD) for school leaders, targeting those across Europe, who are beyond the scope of direct participation in the project.
